The goblins who stole a sexton – Dickens, ghosts, and Christmas

author : Charles Dickens
published as part of Dickens’ series The Pickwick Papers
date : 1836

The goblins who stole a sexton had been written about seven years before A Christmas Carol. The similarities of the two books are striking, however, the overall feeling is quite different. The former is a more haunting and bizarre story but the latter is a more fully developed -and of course- a more complete one.
